Who will the new drummer be?

Discuss who you think the new drummer will be. We will know in less than 2 days. I think it will be either someone we never heard of or the berry brother who is the drum tech. Also, once the new drummer is announced we will make a post about it in the latest news section.

Part of me is leaning toward it being JB Diz, but I guess if it was him, Matt wouldn't have stressed "he won't be a member of A7X. He'll be someone we're all getting to know." or however he phrased it. Whomever it is, I hope they're good and can do the throne justice. They won't be Jimmy and I don't want them getting a big head and saying they're replacing Rev, because that's not the case. They're filling a void Jimmy left behind but will always be compared to Jimmy.

I guess your right about the berry brother probably not being the drummer. In that case maybe it will be travis smith who used to be in trivium.

True. I'm not very up on drummers (only really know Jimmy, Mike (after he joined A7X) and Bob Bryar)...what style is Trivium? Do you think their old drummer could handle Jimmy's style?

It's definately not either one of the Berry bros or T Smith. It's all in the message they released. It's not someone really famous, and Travis is quite famous in the metal music industry. Besides, Travis hates touring I read in a article after his departure from Trivium. Part of the reason it didn't work with Portnoy was they felt he was too famous and couldn't be a realistic part of Avenged Sevenfold. This seems to be the reason they've gone for a drummer who's yet to be famous. The most interesting dilemma in all this is the fact that this new guy isn't famous today but in two days he'll be world famous.

Just speculating here, but I think this new guy is the guy they want. It seems like that reading between the lines. Only that they want to see how he handles the pressure and adaption to becoming a world famous touring musician. It's obvious the job is his if he handles it well.

I got the same impression as Yohan. I know it's supposed to be an audition of sorts but I really do think it's to see if the person can handle what's coming to them. Are they comfortable in front of a crowd of thousands? Can they handle the fame that's coming in a couple of days? I'm really excited for the first videos to come out from the new tour and to see who this guy/girl is.

I kinda can't believe that it's 2 days from the tour and we still haven't heard who it's going to be. Part of me thinks it's cos they are superconfident he's going to be a great fit, but the other part thinks it's cos they're worried he's gonna fuck it up under pressure and if we don't know who it is we'll be more forgiving. Does that make sense to anyone outside of my head?

I think that makes perfect sense. This poor person has some big shoes to fill. He/she is going to be judged and because people are human, there's going to be a LOT of negative reviews. I'm going to keep an open mind and not judge them off the first few concerts; they're getting their feet wet, learning how to go in front of a crowd, and learning how to handle the immense pressure they're under. But once they've got a few dates under their belt, then I'll probably have a more "critical" view of them. I hope they're good, but we all know that that might not be the case.

Google search produced the name Arin Ilejay, ex-drummer (left in 2009) for a Christian metalcore outfit called Confide. Managed to get 1min 24secs into a vid on youtube before I wanted to throw my headphones across the room and scream.

If that's the case, let's hope they're wrong, then. I doubt the guys would take a shitty drummer out, no matter the reasons. Don't want a riot at the show...I wonder if someone slipped up and put out either a false name or a real name but not the person. If that makes sense.

Lets give this kid a chance. those drummers are usually really good and can play just about anything. plus that pic is old. let's hope he got a7x-ified before the tour

if that guy is in fact the drummer, then it's an interesting choice since he used to play screamo music. maybe fans like myself will get lucky and they will start playing some more older stuff. doubt it, but its a thought. If he is the guy then I'll give him a fair chance. Based on what I saw I think he should be able to handle most of their music.

plus he's into the whole tim burton deal too... we'll see in the upcoming weeks. i just want the band to make it official already and maybe an official photo too
