8.9 Earthquake hits Japan

This whole thing is pretty surreal.

Tsunami warnings stretching all the way to people on the Pacific cost and Peru. Hope anyone that's from Japan or an area that might be affected by this is safe.

I can only hope that all that are affected will be safe. Terrible.

When we were in New Zealand I helped out editing a documentary about this tiny island in the South Pacific (Papua New Guinea) that was already in danger of disappearing due to erosion and rising water levels, I'm terrified for the people of Takuu at the moment and praying that what they say about tsunamis spreading east/west from the epicentre and not so much North/south is true.

I feel terribly for the people of Japan right now, and anyone else affected. Watching footage earlier it's like Carla says, it kinda doesn't seem real.

I heard about it yesterday and immediately panicked, one of my pals lives there and hasn't responded to any of my emails. I've been using the Japanese youtube site to keep up with the news as to what's going on, especially with the power plant issue they have now. No one knows what to think, people have been evacuated and given potassium iodine tablets to take when the government tells them to.

My thoughts go out to all my friends and all the victims. I hope everyone I know is safe and well, and I really don't want to see the death toll go up any higher <3
