Re: The Body Modification Thread
I had to take out my tragus piercing. My mom would've freaked if she'd seen it, and I didn't want to have to listen to her bitch about it, so I just took it out. But I'm going to get a job next semester and get it repierced and she won't be able to say anything then.
Carla, do you think it would be fine to get it repierced in the same spot? I can't feel any type of knot or bump where it was, and it healed up without any problems. There's still a small spot left, looks like a small scar, but other than that, there's no evidence I ever had it pierced.

Re: The Body Modification Thread
yeah!
i've had my right tragus pierced twice in the same spot.
the only thing to worry about (i actually wouldnt even worry) would be a bit more of a pinch because of the scar tissue.
but you should be fine.

Re: The Body Modification Thread
yeah does this cover tattoos as well cause I'm a piercing wimp lol. Have always wanted my lip pierced but I screamed having my cartilage done lol, although I'm glad I did
For some reason I'm the opposite with tattoos, not wimpy at all, even kinda perversely love the discomfort
I have seven so far and am sort of planning a half-half sleeve. Actually was going to ask, are there any artists on here who would be willing to help with a sketch?

Re: The Body Modification Thread
Your tattoo artist should be able to help. Most artists will work with you on sketching and planning. Or did you mean someone here who is an artist? If that's so then oops![quote]

Re: The Body Modification Thread
yeah I was just wondering if anyone here was an artist, of any kind, and could help me thrash out some ideas before I approach the tattoo artist I guess. I've not really thought much about it yet but I just randomly thought I'd ask

This is Before:
This is After
I've gotten a lil bigger since the last pic but is not time yet to show progress.
I'm gonna make this next couple of months extremely painful to get contest ready by October

Earlier this year I had the words 'La Vida Sobresaldra' tattooed in a curve just above my right elbow (on the front facing outward and curving in) and I would love to surround that and cover the rest of the top of my arm with greyscale butterflies and bats. I know I definitely want greyscale butterflies, and I guess the bats would have to match, might look crazy if they were darker? - what do you think? I can sort of picture what I want but I think I need some more details in there, would love someone to do an interpretive sketch that I could draw from and develop - or use
(will move the discussion to the tattoo thread if you like but thought I best reply here initially )

Re: The Body Modification Thread
it's from a Mexican national and two other Spanish speakers, it doesn't work in direct translation, had to go with an equivalency thing cause the phrase is strange in English before you even translate lol

Re: The Body Modification Thread
sobresaldra means excel/extend yeah?
it's life will out, so it's kinda like life will excel/life will extend, there was other ways to say it that were longer but I was trying to keep it to three words and I thought that worked

Re: The Body Modification Thread
La vida sobresaldra ante todo. but it is a difficult sentence to interpret / translate. La vida sobre toda las cosas. La vida ante todo.
I wouldn't get anything in a language other than English or Spanish. i have Italian Heritage but i don't speak it lol
but you got the right idea. and it might even sound right in most cases

Re: The Body Modification Thread
well I have space to have ante todo added so if I should then I can
three people who translated for me, one was Mexican, one was Spanish-American (not 100% on her exact heritage but she consulted her granddad on it too randomly lol) and one was from Spain and they all said the same, that it was very difficult to get an equivalent but they all liked the challenge and they basically said to me that it's not exact but I could get away with it in the sense that 'life will out' is an odd phrase in English and people do condense things for phrases and 'cheat grammar' a little.
But like I say if the extra words would make a lot more sense I have space for that

Re: The Body Modification Thread
Yeah. let me first double check that since it is an odd phrase. I'm getting a silent hill themed piece on my left rib cage sometime next year. and on my right ribcage I'm getting a mexican heritage piece... which is basically a "cantina" with a skeleton mariachi playing an electric guitar

Re: The Body Modification Thread
I'm going to add to the area where it is with the butterfly-bat piece so if it needs adding to that is fine I just kinda liked trying to keep it short - thanks for all your help by the way and for looking into it
What will you have in the Silent Hill piece?
and the cantina scene sounds amazing, I went to San Antonio last year and got some very cool Day of the Dead themed items - and got a cute coaster in La Villita with Death at a party wearing a lil nametag
